Where a banquet hall becomes a gallery

원형 메인홀과 LED 월, 한강 통창의 리셉션홀, 대리석 문 너머의 갤러리. 2023년 개관 기념전 「Colorful Fortune」부터 미디어 아트, 황란 · 자이언제이 · 김석영 작가의 전시까지 이 공간에서 실제로 열린 전시만 기록했습니다.

A round Main Hall with LED walls, a Reception Hall lined with river windows, and a Gallery behind a marble doorway. This archive records only exhibitions that actually took place here, from the 2023 opening show “Colorful Fortune” and media art to exhibitions by Ran Hwang, ZIONJ and Kim Seokyoung.

황란 × 크리스공 「Ascent to Eternity, a Requiem」

Ran Hwang × Chris Kong: Ascent to Eternity, a Requiem

설치 작가 황란과 조명 작가 크리스공(라잇톨로지 대표)이 함께한 빛과 향의 대형 설치전. ‘영원 속으로 승천하는 영혼들에게 바치는 진혼곡’이라는 부제처럼 천장에서 수많은 붉은 카네이션을 늘어뜨렸습니다. 철창 속 새를 단추와 핀으로 새긴 「Dreaming of Joy」(2008), 독수리와 불사조가 합쳐진 존재가 날아오르는 가로 8m의 「Another Moment of Rising」(2023) 등을 선보였습니다.

A large installation of light and scent by installation artist Ran Hwang and lighting artist Chris Kong (founder of Lightology), “a requiem for souls ascending into eternity.” Countless red carnations hung from the ceiling, alongside works in buttons and pins such as “Dreaming of Joy” (2008), a caged bird, and the 8-metre-wide “Another Moment of Rising” (2023), an eagle-phoenix taking flight.

김석영 개인전 「Flowing river」

Kim Seokyoung: Flowing river

김석영 작가의 35번째 개인전. 동양의 무위자연과 서양의 액션페인팅을 결합한 작업을 해 온 신표현주의 작가로, 1990년 홍익대학교 서양화과를 졸업하고 1991년부터 개인전 35회를 열었습니다. 메인홀 원형 벽을 따라 말과 꽃을 그린 회화를 걸고 중앙에 말 조형물을 세웠으며, 갤러리와 리셉션홀 LED 월까지 작품으로 채웠습니다. 전시 기간 중 5월 6일에 출판기념회를 열었습니다.

Kim Seokyoung's 35th solo exhibition. A Korean neo-expressionist who combines the Eastern idea of natural spontaneity with Western action painting, he graduated in Western painting from Hongik University in 1990 and has held 35 solo shows since 1991. Paintings of horses and flowers ringed the Main Hall around a horse sculpture, and the works continued into the Gallery and across the Reception Hall LED walls. A book launch was held on 6 May.

김보하 「Portrait ; 그 너머」

Bo-ha Kim: Beyond the Portrait

사진가 김보하의 전시 「Portrait ; 그 너머」. 특별히 선별한 초상 사진 위에 드로잉을 더해 완성한 작품으로, 작가는 “영혼의 목소리로 채색한 나의 사진”이라고 말합니다. 패션 매거진과 광고, 수많은 스타와 작업해 온 상업사진가가 순수 사진 작품으로 보여 준 새로운 변신입니다. 메인홀 원형 벽을 따라 작품을 걸었습니다.

“Beyond the Portrait,” an exhibition by photographer Bo-ha Kim. Selected portraits are completed with drawing on top, works the artist calls “my photographs colored by the voice of the soul.” A commercial photographer known for fashion magazines, advertising and celebrity portraits here turned to fine-art photography, hung along the round walls of the Main Hall.

3색 K-ART 페스타 – 민화 · 나전 · 도자기

3-Colour K-ART Festa: Minhwa, Najeon & Ceramics

한국 민화와 나전, 도자기를 한자리에 모은 협업 전시. 경주대 정병모 교수(한국민화학교 TSOM)의 기획으로 중견 민화 작가 70명이 대표작을 한 점씩 선보였고, 나전 길정본 작가와 ‘토흔’의 도예가 지산 이종능 작가가 함께했습니다.

A collaborative exhibition of Korean folk painting (minhwa), mother-of-pearl inlay and ceramics. Curated by Professor Jung Byung-mo of Gyeongju University (Korean Minhwa School TSOM), 70 mid-career minhwa painters each showed one representative work, joined by najeon artist Gil Jeong-bon and ceramicist Jisan Lee Jong-neung of “Toheun.”

자이언제이 초대전 「BE YOU TIFUL」

ZIONJ: BE YOU TIFUL

패션 일러스트 작가 자이언제이(ZIONJ)의 애니버셔리 뮤지엄 초대전. 입구를 작가의 건물 일러스트로 감싸고, 갤러리와 라운지에 드로잉을 걸었습니다. ‘아름다웠고, 아름다운 영원한 나의 별 엄마에게’라는 문장 아래 엄마들의 젊은 날을 그린 「엄마의 리즈시절」 연작을 벽 한 면 가득 채웠고, 메인홀에서 작가 인사를 진행했습니다.

An invited exhibition by the illustrator ZIONJ at Anniversary Museum. The entrance was wrapped in the artist's building illustration, drawings filled the Gallery and lounge, and the series “Mother's Prime Era” covered a full wall beneath the line “To my mother, my eternal star, who was and is beautiful.” The artist's talk took place in the Main Hall.

조영남 「이 망할 놈의 현대미술」

Cho Young-nam: This Damn Contemporary Art

가수이자 화가인 ‘화수(畵手)’ 조영남의 전시 「이 망할 놈의 현대미술 – 조영남의 미술편력」. 화투, 바둑, 태극기처럼 한국적이고 일상적인 소재를 다뤄 온 작가의 작품을 애니버셔리 갤러리에서 무료로 선보였습니다.

“This Damn Contemporary Art – Cho Young-nam’s Art Journey,” by the singer and painter Cho Young-nam, who calls himself a hwasu (painter-singer). Known for everyday Korean motifs such as hwatu cards, Go and the national flag, his works were shown free of charge at the Anniversary gallery.

BTS Jimin Birthday: JIMIN SEOM

중국 팬베이스 MOONRISING CHINA가 BTS 지민의 생일을 기념해 연 ‘JIMIN SEOM’ 행사. 세빛섬 외벽과 다리에 대형 배너를 걸고, 애니버셔리 메인홀 원형 벽을 따라 지민 사진 전시를, 리셉션홀에는 팬 카페를 열었습니다.

“JIMIN SEOM,” a birthday celebration for BTS's Jimin by the Chinese fanbase MOONRISING CHINA. Giant banners covered the Sevit Islands facade and bridge, a photo exhibition lined the round Main Hall at Anniversary, and the Reception Hall became a fan café.
